He remains unemployed, but is doing some training. Is there hope left for him? What's holding him back? That's pride fucking with you. Fuck pride. Pride only hurts. It never helps.
You fight through that shit. We learned this week that McNabb had lost 15 to 20 pounds. That's great. He's embracing the need to get in top shape. Then McNabb started talking. He thinks he's in great shape now, but at the same will not acknowledge that he ever had any issues with being out of shape. Uh, okay. So you were fine, but lost 15 to 20 pounds anyway?
This is the kind of delusional talk that is keeping McNabb out of the league. He still has the arm strength, mobility, and football skills to be a starting quarterback. What he doesn't have is a firm grip on reality.
McNabb is convinced that he's still the guy who was drafted second overall, went to multiple Pro Bowls, made highlight play after highlight play, and carried the Eagles to the only Super Bowl appearance of the last 30 years. I was a huge fan of McNabb's from the time I saw his first ever college game a Saturday night upset of North Carolina in I followed his career very closely from that night on. I was ecstatic when the Eagles picked him in And you can sure bet that I loved all the success he brought to Philly over the years.
McNabb never delivered the Lombardi Trophy, but that's hardly all on him. It pains me to now see McNabb almost making a fool of himself. He wouldn't acknowledge conditioning issues, but is now focused on losing weight and getting in shape. He wouldn't let the Vikings coaches work on his mechanics, but is now working with a quarterback guru named George Whitfield.
McNabb simply isn't willing to deal with the fact he's no longer the star quarterback that had great success for a decade.
He doesn't want to admit fault in the problems that he has suffered since leaving the Eagles. I get the fact that he had a lot of people ripping on him for worthless reasons during his time as an Eagle. I can't imagine what that is like, but it must affect your psyche. I'm sorry that McNabb wasn't totally embraced by Eagles fans the way that other star players have been dealt with over the years. It is time for McNabb to look in the mirror and make a crucial decision.
When that question was asked it was kind of a wait and see type thing. Your email address will not be published. Notify me of follow-up comments by email. Notify me of new posts by email. See the complete history of VGK Odds here.

Recording it tonight. Goalie Interference on Thursday at 7 PM. What were the stats against Vancouver and Dallas? Alex Pietrangelo Brayden McNabb. Holden and Coghlan as the third pairing. Gonna need some offense. The Noodle King. Mike StG. Ken Boehlke. For the record, I agree. They need to go with 6 if both Petro and McNabb are unavailable.
Once you hold salary during a trade you are stuck with it until it ends. He compiled a record in Philly. In NFL history he ranks 23rd in passing rating, 22nd passing tds, 17th in passing yards. All this accomplished without the services of a pro bowl receiver for most of his career.
And in the future, the receivers have hands on their feet. At his peak, he was a near-elite QB. Once his physical skills started leaving him, he started to suck. He was never the same after the knee injury in He spent most of recovering, and was showing signs of slowing down and being inconsistent in the overtime debacle, getting benched in Baltimore.
He could be a competent or even excellent backup. After reading most of the comments, it seems everybody is saying Rush Limbaugh was right about McNabb. Mcnabb was a on a good eagles team his whole career and couldnt win the big game. The HOF is getting out of control now. I feel like people are getting inducted in with less and less accomplishments.
Next thing you know there gonna want tebow in the HOF. Most his yardage is attributed to Westbrook turning screen passes into big plays. He wont be in the HOF. McNabb was a good quarterback, but not a great one. He will acquiesce and accept the clipboard in due time. Assuming the starter never gets hurt and he is holding pom-poms, I would think it hard to tell the difference between the 2 QB and the talented ladies known as cheerleaders.
Work ethic, arrogance, lack of wins, the fact he slipped to 3 on the depth chart in Minnesota, his conditioning, and lacking of clutch play!!!! Um, first you have to BE elite to consider yourself elite boy, now shut up and hold the clipboard! I think it is more of a general attitude problem. He has become a fair-weather QB — when things are great he puts in some effort, when they start to falter, he checks out.
His poor game management at the end of the Super Bowl displays better than anything else why many consider him overrated. Harrell has not shown much in any of the pre-season games he has played in, but I would still take him over McNabb if only because he is still young and with a good QB-developing team, so that might one day change.
Until he went deaf from abusing them….. Is he washed up now? But are your memories that short? Dude you are a fool just retire allready no teams want to sign you.
McNabb rode a good defense in Philly to most of those wins. Solid QB, but never great. Nice long ball but that was about it. So this is where all the Rush Limbaugh Ditto Heads who agreed with him wrongly back in the day hang out and troll. Now McNabb is at the end of a tremendous career you all come out of your decade long hiding to dance on his career grave in a vain effort to justify your wrongheaded prejudgment of McNabb.
Besides we all know these armchair, double-wide trailer opinions have nothing to do with McNabb per se anyway. OK you got me. But I think you get the point. And to say that he is better than half of the QBs in the league is an even bigger mistake than I made with the list. You guys who are so negative about McNabb are pathetic. You would not have these same comments we were in the midst of his 5 NFC championship run. Also, this elite QB crap really bugs me.
What is elite QB anyway? When McNabb was in his prime, hardly any of you would have taken Brees or E. Manning over him at that point in time. How many times has he beaten Manning head to head? Sick of his mouth? With the Redskins, he was overweight and slow. His passes were mostly off target, usually under thrown. Plus, he was full of himself.
The only team that is right for him now is the Cowboys. He gagged, literally. From that moment on, on the sports biggest stage, his legacy was cemented. That stupid looking grin after he throws an interception, or worm ball.
Then the team loses the game and he keeps grinning. People should have thrown their shoes at him. His unfinished business consists of wanting to stand on sideline out of shape and not knowing the playbook and get paid for it.
HOF for what????
